Werkgroep Carnivora is celebrating its 40th anniversary in style! For ten days, Hortus Botanicus Leiden will be entirely dedicated to carnivorous plants. Expect a spectacular exhibition, inspiring workshops, fascinating guided tours, and of course the opportunity to purchase extraordinary carnivorous plants.

The first three days form the heart of the event with the international ICPS conference. Enthusiasts from all over the world come together for a varied programme of 12 lectures spread over three days. Whether you are a beginner or interested in in-depth scientific topics, there is something for everyone. Buy your conference tickets here.

Alongside the conference, from 21 to 23 August there will be a large carnivorous plant market with more than 15 vendors. This market is freely accessible to visitors of the Hortus. Order your garden entry ticket here.

On Saturday evening, 22 August, we are organising a wonderful dinner in the beautiful surroundings of the Hortus. A perfect opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts, relax and enjoy good food together. Everyone is welcome! Reserve your spot here.

Following the conference, Werkgroep Carnivora organises exclusive excursions from 24 to 26 August to various nurseries. Read more about the excursions here.

During the conference weekend, on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00, there will be free Dutch-language lectures in the Orangery. On Saturday you can discover everything about “Carnivorous plants in the Netherlands”, and on Sunday the impressive “Sarracenias of North America” take centre stage.

During the conference you can also participate in specially organised Dutch-language workshops, such as botanical drawing and creating a Mexican butterwort rock. Reserve your place here.

From Monday 24 August to Sunday 30 August, the carnivorous plant show can be visited daily. During this period Werkgroep Carnivora offers an extensive range of unique and special plants for sale, along with fun activities and guided tours.
