The ICPS conference is followed by three days of excursions. You can register for all three days individually. All excursions start and end from the Hortus Botanicus Leiden.
Day 1: August 24, 2026 – Nursery CarniFlora and field trip to Dutch carnivorous plants and their habitat
In the morning we head to the famous Dutch carnivorous plant nursery CarniFlora. Justin van Kessel, owner, will give us a tour through the greenhouse. Of course there’s also an opportunity to buy some plants. After the tour we’ll provide you with lunch, after which we go into the field to see some Dutch carnivorous plants in their habitat. We will do this by two hour guided boat tour. We will be back in Leiden around 18:00. Dinner afterwards is optional and not included.

Day 2: August 25, 2026 – Nursery Corn. Bak and Amsterdam Botanical Garden
We start the day with a visit to Corn. Bak. Owner Peter Bak will guide us through the gigantic greenhouses. Quite recently Peter Bak was a plant breeder of bromeliads and Venus flytraps but is now shifting more to breeding carnivorous plants. After a small lunch we head to the renovated Amsterdam Botanical Garden for a guided tour, which now harbors a state-of-the-art greenhouse with a large African plant collection. Of course there are also some carnivorous plants. After the tour you can choose to head back to Leiden or dive right into the buzzing heart of Amsterdam.

Day 3: August 26, 2026 – Nursery Peaty Pitchers and botanical garden Jochemhof
The last day brings us to the nursery of Laurens Eggen: Peaty Pitchers. After two enormous commercial nurseries at Aalsmeer and Assendelft, Laurens’ passion will definitely win you over. Well, if you like Sarracenia… Laurens breeds thousands of plants just to find, make and grow the ultimate specimen. Of course this is a great opportunity to select your perfect plant from his assortment. For lunch we head to nearby botanical garden Jochumhof, where we also check the carnivorous plants in the bog and the rest of the garden.
